Dr Francis J T Fildes

Dr Fildes is an independent director and consultant to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. He is on the Board of ProStrakan Group plc, a European speciality pharmaceutical company and a Non-Executive Director of Piramed Ltd, a UK-based drug discovery and development company. He is also currently a member of the Product Review Board for Ferring Pharmaceuticals and the New Agents Committee for Cancer Research UK. He was a Non-Executive Director of Keryx Biopharmaceuticals Inc and on the Healthcare Advisory Boards for venture capital groups Apax and Merlin Biosciences.

His career in the pharmaceuticals industry was with ICI/Zeneca/AstraZeneca where he held a number of senior R&D leadership roles, latterly as Senior Vice President and Head of Global Development. He was a member of the Board of AstraZeneca Japan, Senior Vice President Pre-Clinical Sciences and Head of Global Development Projects.

Dr Fildes is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal Society of Chemistry and in 2001 he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Bradford.
